BILOXI JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL, BILOXI, MS

Friday Morning, January 24th, 2014…10:45-11:30 AM

This may have been our school’s best assembly ever! It was certainly the best I have ever been a part of! ‘Future Champions Of America” had the right music playing when we all filed in the gym. It was the Globetrotter’s national anthem, with all the whistling going on. Then Jason Gibbons introduced himself and began spinning his red and white basketballs in a lot of different ways. This freestyle basketball phenom really got our attention quick.

He was on the TV news stations performing in other area schools, and people call him “White Shadow.” Jason has been at two NBA All-Star Weekends as one of America’s top performers, spinning and shooting crazy shots. He has performed for Nike, Disney, and Air Jordan as well. The Harlem Globetrotters have now invited him to play with their Legends team.

The speech at the end was a lot about bullying. This is something teens do see throughout our middle school years. He said to go to the police if we have to. Cyber-bullying has caused a lot of teens to commit suicide. He really got all of us to listen, and told us the right way to handle it.
